Getting to Hotel

For both international and domestic travelers, General Francisco Mujica International Airport (MLM)-commonly referred to as Morelia International Airport-serves as the primary point of entry. The airport lies approximately 25-30 kilometers on a northeast bearing from downtown Morelia. Travel time between the airport and Hotel Casa José María is around 30-40 minutes by car. The easiest and most advisable way is to use an official airport taxi ('Transporte Terrestre') from the accredited counters inside the terminal, offering fixed prepaid fares directly and safely to the hotel.

Uber and other ride-share options operate in Morelia but may not be able to pick up at the airport, so official taxis are easier upon arrival. Car rentals are available at the airport in case you’re planning to explore the rest of the state of Michoacán, renowned for its lakes and craft villages. However, driving and finding a parking space within the narrow, congested streets of Morelia’s historic center can be very challenging.

If you are arriving by long-distance bus from other Mexican cities, such as Mexico City or Guadalajara, you will arrive at the main Terminal de Autobuses de Morelia (TAM). The bus terminal is located on the outskirts of the city. From the terminal, a regular city taxi or an Uber is the best way to reach the hotel in the historic center. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes and is quite affordable.
